Saturn : New Saturn SC2 3 door car
Saturn Unveils Three-Door Coupe Performance Concept February 11, 1999 - The Saturn SC, the world's first three-door coupe, is the platform for a one-of-a-kind concept vehicle that showcases performance products and updates available to Saturn customers. Dubbed the "SC2 Concept," this hot red Saturn borrows ideas from amateur racing and from the California-inspired compact car performance scene. Both cultures are increasingly using sporty Saturn models, and both represent the cutting edge for today's small-car enthusiasts.
In creating the SC2 Concept, Saturn solicited input from several internal groups as well as from original equipment and aftermarket suppliers. The finished vehicle is truly a team effort. Most of the chassis and powertrain components are from aftermarket tuner SPS of Dayton, Ohio. Nationally recognized as a leader in the growing Saturn performance market, SPS's wide selection of parts, combined with their enthusiasm for the SC2 Concept, created a natural partnership opportunity. Also cooperating in the development of the SC2 Concept are two of Saturn's original equipment suppliers. Enkei, manufacturer of the "Teardrop IV" alloy wheels available on production SC2 coupes, contributed its new 17-inch "Shogun" aftermarket wheels. Firestone, supplier of Saturn's original equipment 680, Affinity and Firehawk GTA tires, contributed its 17-inch Firehawk SZ50 series. The unique "Hot Rod Red" exterior paint (brilliant red w/ holographic metallic mica), red perforated leather interior, and white-faced gauge cluster are from Saturn's Vehicle Engineering Center in Madison Heights, Michigan. Saturn team members at the VEC also completed final assembly and preparation of the SC2 Concept. SC2 CONCEPT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
