Many important functions within GM are assigned to Opel, as i.e. the International Technical Development Center (ITDC), which is located in Rüsselsheim, Germany and which is responsible for the development of small cars. Manufacturing of Opel is closely linked to Vauxhall, sharing and manufacturing the same cars.
