Skoda : Octavia 2001

The Paris Auto Show 2000

Škoda Auto introduces its Škoda Octavia 2001 model range with many changes and innovations that will appeal to customers. The emphasis has been on detail and perfection. The results of continuous development are clearly visible in its interior - more inner space, better standard and optional equipment, higher quality and better safety. All new and innovated elements will be apparent on roads but also in higher sales value of used cars.

Visual details have been refreshed - including new front and rear bumper design, new radiator grille, protective side moldings, and new clear optic headlights. The rear features new pronounced lights with the “brilliant and neon effect”, license plate light console, and an optional rear wiper in the Saloon. New body parts have resulted in an improved aerodynamics - the airdrag coefficient Cx has a value of 0.30. There is more legroom in the rear, new color combinations of upholstery and trim. Safety has been improved, primarily by reinforcing structural parts of the car front. Equipment levels of all models have been upgraded and now have new designation - Classic, Ambience and Elegance. New are also colors offered with this model.

The range of engines has been extended to include units from 44 kW/60 bhp up to the sports version of 110kW/15 bhp Turbo and even a 132 kW/180 bhp fitted in the new RS models. The fuel saving yet powerful diesel models are particularly popular and the range has been enlarged to include the high performance 74 kW/101 bhp TDI unit fitted with the latest injection technology in the new Škoda Octavia 4x4 version and coupled with a new 6-speed transmission. The range of engines available for the Estate 4x4 now includes the 1,8 Turbo/110 kW (150 bhp), now also for the Laurin&Klement model.

With the introduction of its Škoda Octavia model in 1996, Škoda Auto has engineered an all-new, advanced car meeting the most stringent standards in terms of technology, design, safety, driving parameters, equipment and environmental protection. The Estate version launched in 1998 increased the popularity of the range even more and in some markets its sales exceed those of the Saloon version. With the Estate 4x4 Škoda Auto entered the 4WD market. The top model - Laurin&Klement - is heading into the most exclusive market segment of luxury compact cars, while the sporty Škoda Octavia RS introduces the brand to the performance conscious young and dynamic customers.
