Mladá Boleslav, September 1, 1999 - Dynamic, elegant design, solidity and self confidence, as well as extraordinary space utilization characterize the new Škoda Fabia.

It does not replace any existing Škoda models, but complements the Škoda model offering. The new Škoda Fabia, which is seen here for the first time, offers amazing interior space, substantially more than one would expect based on its exterior dimensions. The modern interior convinces with usable, practical, and in this class of a car rather unusual details, even such elements as, for example, two air conditioned compartments in the dashboard.

The youngest Škoda is built on a completely new chassis, the wheelbase has grown to 2461 mm. The car is 3960 mm long, 1646 mm wide and 1451 mm high. The luggage compartment has a volume of 248 l, with folded rear seats 1016 liters. The Škoda Fabia will be initially offered with two MPI gasoline engines - 1.4 l / 50 kW (68 BHP) as well as 1.4 l / 16 V / 74 kW (101 BHP), and one diesel engine - 1.9 l SDI / 47kW (64 BHP). Subsequently the range of powertrains will be gradually expanded.

The public will be able to see the Škoda Fabia for the first time during its world premiere at the Frankfurt International Auto Show (IAA), 1999. The market introduction will start from December this year 1999.
