Molsheim, France - With this, the world's most powerful sports car, Volkswagen AG's newly established BUGATTI Automobiles S.A.S. opens up a new era that projects the mystique of a successful past into the present. The company's headquarters are located once again in Molsheim near Strasbourg, France, the brand's original home. This was announced on the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show by Dr. Karl-Heinz Neumann, President and Technical Director of BUGATTI Automobiles S.A.S.

Reinhold Kopp is BUGATTI's Commercial Director and thus shares responsibility for the company with Dr. Neumann. Both directors have a double function within Volkswagen AG: Dr. Karl-Heinz Neumann is also the director of Volkswagen's engine development division and Reinhold Kopp of the government relations area.

To celebrate the establishment of BUGATTI Automobiles S.A.S., the company is exhibiting the EB 16·4 Veyron for the first time with its final engine version at the Geneva Motor Show.

The innovative W16 light alloy engine for this four-wheel-drive sports car has an altogether special status. The design basis for this 16-cylinder engine consists of two very narrow eight-cylinder banks. With four turbochargers, this 7,993-cc gasoline direct injection engine develops such power that any Formula 1 racing car would achieve excellent lap times with it.

The engine has an unbelievable maximum torque of 1,250 Nm between 2,200 and 5,500 rpm. No other series-production car in the world can match this figure. BUGATTI Automobiles S.A.S. will supply the car's maximum speed and acceleration figures at a later date.
