Guangzhou Makes First Appearance at NAIAS

DETROIT – Guangzhou
Automotive Group made its first appearance at the North American
International Auto Show, displaying three models in various stages of
development.
Separately, the company
reached an agreement with Fiat and Chrysler Group for an expansion of
their cooperation on passenger-car manufacturing and sales in China.
Under the agreement, GAC will build one Jeep model in China for Chrysler
for sale in China, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The companies signed
the agreement at Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. Last year,
Jeep sold about 50,000 SUVs in China.
At NAIAS, a GAC
executive told assembled journalists that “our participation at this
show indicates more steps toward globalization.”
