| Ford Ranger has also been affected by the new VAT
laws that came into being towards the end of last year. The Double-Cab and Super-Cab both
meet the required 1000kg payload that is needed to qualify for the VAT exemption. In fact,
the versatile Supercab offers a best in class payload of 1195kg and occasional rear
seating, at only £300 more than its Regular Cab namesake. Jeremy Spencer, Ford Ranger
Brand Manager, commented on the success of the Ford Ranger: "The success of the Ford
Ranger shows just how eagerly anticipated Ford's return to the pick-up market has been.
Last year was a major plus for us with the Ranger doing so well and the signs so far this
year show that it will be going from strength to strength."
Already this year the Ford Ranger has been receiving accolades from the commercial
vehicle industry. The vehicle was recently voted top product in the Vehicle and Plant
category by the readers of Professional Builder magazine. This award follows the What Van?
Award for 'Best Pick-Up' claimed by the Ford Ranger in 1999.
To suit a variety of needs the Ford Ranger line-up offers three body styles: the
Regular Cab, the versatile four-seat Super Cab, and the five seat Double Cab that offers
the highest payload and loadbox length in its class. The Ford Ranger is the result of more
than 70 years of Ford pick-up heritage. The Ford F-Series pick-up is the best selling
vehicle of all time (27 million) and has been the top-selling vehicle in the USA for 16
consecutive years.
