NORTHVILLE, Mich. - Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc., one of
the world's leading suppliers of wheels, brakes, powertrain, suspension, structural and
other lightweight components to the automotive and commercial highway markets, announced
that it has consolidated its two independent equipment operations, Equipment &
Engineering and Process Control Automation, into one larger, more focused and efficient
operation, Hayes Lemmerz Equipment & Engineering Division. The combined operation,
with manufacturing facilities in AuGres and Montague, Michigan, has sales of approximately
$40 million. This integrated structure will increase Hayes Lemmerz' capability to
provide its global customers with the conceptual design and manufacturing of automated
foundry equipment and systems, dedicated machine lines and flexible machining centers. In
addition, it will enable the Company to provide greater technical support and improve its
operating efficiencies.
"This is a logical evolution of our strategic growth initiative," said John
A. Salvette, President of Hayes Lemmerz' North American Cast Components Group. "By
consolidating our operations, we will become a more efficient and responsive organization
structure with a single management focus. It improves our marketplace effectiveness and
competitiveness as well as facilitates greater technology exchange."
Additionally, Dan Minor, formerly Plant Manager of the AuGres operation and a 19 year
veteran of the Company, was appointed General Manager, responsible for leading the new
division's initiatives.
