Ingolstadt,
February 22, 1999 - In response to high demand for the Audi TT sports
car, from mid-1999 Audi is to step up production capacity for this model
from the originally scheduled 40,000 units a year to 50,000.
The production
facilities at the Ingolstadt plant are currently being adjusted to accommodate
the higher production totals. Investments in areas which typically prove
to be bottlenecks, such as body production, are being topped up.

Various measures in the field of work organization, such as
additional shifts, are additionally planned.
The TT assembly line at the Györ plant, in Hungary, will in
future be in operation six days a week, to cope with the high
level of demand. Through these measures, Audi is aiming to reduce
the delivery time for the TT to an average of five to seven
months. The TT Coupé was launched on the market at the end of
October 1998. 13,682 of the Audi TT had been built by the end
of last year. Audi currently has more than 20,000 orders on
hand for this model. The market launch of the TT Roadster is
scheduled for mid-1999.
