Audi achieves record vehicle sales

  • Worldwide sales up by 9.5 percent on last year
  • Premieres at the IAA: Design Study, A4 Cabriolet and A4 Avant

Ingolstadt  - Never before has Audi sold as many cars in the first eight months of a year as it has in 2001: a total of around 484,000 cars bearing the four rings of the Audi badge were handed over to customers worldwide. 442,154 vehicles were sold in the same period last year. This is equivalent to an increase of  9.5 percent.

Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG commented on this success as follows: "We are expecting the market launch of the A4 Avant in the autumn to have a further positive impact on our sales. We assume that Audi will be able to maintain this satisfactory trend and that all key figures for the whole of 2001 will be up on the previous year."

Audi will be presenting the new A4 Avant to the general public for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). It will be launched on the market this autumn. The new A4 Cabriolet, which is to be launched on the market in the spring of next year, will also be premiered. In addition, Audi will present a Design Study. This Study, which is bristling with new ideas, will demonstrate the technical leadership of the brand with the four rings.
