A wind power station of Porsche design Porsche Engineering Group completes design project Stuttgart/Lübeck - The Porsche Engineering Group GmbH (PEG), a subsidiary of the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has redesigned a two megawatt wind power station. The main focus of the styling project was the socalled gondola, on which the three large rotorblades rotate at a height of 80 meters. In contrast to the former, plain rectangle model the new outer shell of the power unit now has a narrow hull-like form. This development has not only taken stylistic aspects into account but also aerodynamic legalities, above all, the necessity to secure the gondola against lateral gusts of wind. The PEG received the design contract from the DeWind AG, Lübeck, which, with around 180 employees, is one of the leading suppliers of wind power stations in Germany. DeWind are today putting the new wind power station with the name "D8" on public display for the first time at the world's largest wind technology trade exhibition, "Windtech" in Husum. The Porsche Engineering Group GmbH has been engaged in design development for industrial products since 1981. Examples of Porsche styling include the Linde forklift truck and Fendt tractors. The most recent example of the creativity of the PEG engineers is the development of an ultramodern truck cabin that went on display for the first time is this year's SAE Congress (Society of Automotive Engineers) in Detroit, USA. But the Porsche Engineering Group does not specialise in design alone. Our 340 employees operating world wide also develop innovative solutions for vehicle technology - from the understructure to the motor to the bodywork to the vehicle as a whole.
