BMW Reports Strong July Sales

Monthly Sales Increase 26 Percent and Year-to-Date Sales Increase 22 Percent

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NEW JERSEY - BMW of North America, LLC reported year-to-date sales of 126,303, an increase of 22 percent, over the 103,951 sold in the first seven months of 2000. BMW posted sales of 19,046 vehicles in July, compared to 15,168 in July 2000, up 26 percent.

This marks the 34th consecutive month that BMW has surpassed its own monthly sales records.

Automobile Sales

BMW reported July automobile sales of 15,864 compared to 13,290 a year ago, an increase of nearly 20 percent. Year-to-date automobile sales were strong too, at 104,438, up 11 percent over the 93,909 reported in the same period a year ago.

Sports Activity Vehicle Sales

BMW also reported July sales of 3,182 Sports Activity Vehicles, up 69 percent over July 2000 sales of 1,878 SAVs. Year-to-date, BMW reported sales of 21,865 vehicles, an increase of 118 percent compared to the 10,042 reported through July of 2000.

Certified Pre-owned Vehicles Sales

BMW also reported sales of 3,206 Certified Pre-Owned vehicles in July, down 24 percent from 4,205 in July 2000. Year to date, Certified Pre-Owned BMW sales stand at 22,449 units, down 18% from the 27,213 units sold in the same period last year. The decline reflects lower off-lease vehicles coming back into the market.
