Porsche bids to double medium-term turnover in Asian/Pacific markets

New regional office established in Singapore

Stuttgart/Singapore - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, Germany is to open a new regional office for the Asian/Pacific countries in Singapore. Porsche Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. was established on 1st August 2001 and will commence business next October. The function of the wholly-owned subsidiary of Porsche AG will be to coordinate centrally the entire Sales, Marketing and After-Sales activities in this region. Porsche Asia Pacific, with a total of nine employees, will be responsible for the following markets: Brunei, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand. Christer Eckberg, who had been managing Porsche's Swedish interests up to now, is to be Managing Director.

Through the establishment of Porsche Asia Pacific, the twelve markets, which are geographically widely scattered and extremely heterogeneous, are to be served more efficiently and more thoroughly. Not only this, but the time investment and financial expenditure incurred by time differences of up to eleven hours and expensive traveling will also be further reduced. In the last financial year Porsche sold almost 500 sports cars in the Asian/Pacific markets - not including Japan and Australia. In the medium term, it is expected that turnover in this region of growth will double due to the market launch of the "Cayenne" sport and off-road utility vehicle.

In addition to Singapore, Porsche has set up regional offices in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Miami (USA), which, will serve markets in the Middle East and in Central and South America respectively from these cities. The Stuttgart sports car manufacturer has its own marketing companies in Germany, Australia, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Spain/Portugal and also in USA/Canada.
