Continental Temic is a specialist in chassis electronics, engine management and transmission control units, as well as electric drives and comfort electronics.


Automotive Press Awards Prize to Continental Automotive Systems for Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

January 17, 2006 -- When making their selections for the TOPauto 2006 prize awarded by Motor-Informations-Dienst (mid), 140 automotive journalists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland picked Distronic Plus by DaimlerChrysler and Continental Automotive Systems as a winner in the Innovation category.

In conjunction with a new automotive and innovation prize awarded by journalists from the German-language automotive press, DaimlerChrysler and Continental Automotive Systems received the second prize in the Innovation category for their Distronic Plus in the new S-Class.

Dr. Ralf Cramer, Head of the Business Unit Electronic Brake und Safety Systems at Continental Automotive Systems, is proud of the TOPauto 2006 Award for the Distronic Plus.

More than 140 automotive journalists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland selected the best cars in seven different categories and nominated the most significant technological innovations for model year 2006. Continental’s Adaptive Cruise Control or ACC system in the new S-Class features expanded functionalities and offers significant improvements in driving comfort and driving safety.


Continental Automotive Systems plans doubling of sales in Asia

The German automotive supplier is responding to the dynamic growth of the Asian automotive industry by opening a new headquarters in Shanghai, China, and building a new technology center in Yokohama, Japan.

November 21, 2005. By the year 2010, the Continental Division Automotive Systems intends to generate at least 50 percent of its new sales through agreements with non-European automobile manufacturers.

Sales in Asia in particular are to be doubled. Continental Automotive Systems is therefore intensifying its presence in Asia to strengthen its position in this growth market. The company has opened its new Asian headquarters on November 21, 2005 in Shanghai, China. In addition, a new technology center will be built in Yokohama, Japan, creating 250 new engineer positions.
