Automotive Seat Parts Manufacturing Company Established in Tianjin, China November 7, 2005 Toyota Boshoku Corporation (President: Masanao Motonami; Headquarters: Kariya, Aichi) and Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (President: Yasuhito Yamauchi; Headquarters: Kariya, Aichi) have established a company that will manufacture seat frames and functional parts in Tianjin, China. Based in Tianjin city, the new company, TIANJIN FENG AI AUTOMOTIVE SEAT PARTS CO., LTD., will undertake integrated manufacturing of automotive seat frames and functional parts for seats. To the present, Toyota Boshoku and AISIN have maintained a cooperative relationship in the joint development and production of frame functional parts. The new company becomes the second joint venture established by the two companies in China following the establishment of a joint venture in Guangzhou. Toyota Boshoku and AISIN will combine their capabilities in their respective fields of strength to manufacture high-quality, low-cost seat frames and related functional parts. The parts manufactured by the new company will be delivered to Toyota Boshoku subsidiaries Tianjin Intex Auto Parts Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Kahou Automobile Decoration Co., Ltd., both of which are engaged in the manufacture of interior parts. After assembly, the seats will be delivered to Tianjin Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. Fiscal year 2004, ended March 2004 In the fiscal year under review ended March 31, 2004, consolidated net sales rose 14.0% to ¥1,605,252 million (US$15,188 million), marking a record high for sales in the five consecutive fiscal years of growth since fiscal 2000. The chief factors behind this growth were a 14.3% increase in sales in the Automotive Parts and Systems Business, as well as brisk performance in the Life Related and Other Business. Consolidated operating income rose 7.7% to ¥86,768 million (US$821 million). Consolidated ordinary income increased by 10.5% to ¥84,654 million (US$801 million), while consolidated net income declined 27.7% to ¥34,719 million (US$328 million). The key reason for lower income was an extraordinary loss of ¥7,319 million (US$69 million) recorded in association with recognized actuarial loss on employee pension fund. In the fiscal year under review ended March 31, 2004, net sales totaled ¥1,605,252 million (US$15,188 million). By business segment, automotive related sales in the Automotive Parts and Systems Business rose 14.3% to ¥1,532,634 million (US$14,501 million). In this business, sales of engine related products rose 16.5% to ¥153,695 million (US$1,454 million) owing to increased sales of VVTs and timing chain covers, and sales of drivetrain related products rose 13.0% to ¥673,760 million (US$6,375 million) due to increased sales of 6-speed ATs and other new products. Moreover, sales of brake and chassis related products climbed 21.9% to ¥343,048 million (US$3,246 million) as a result of increased sales at the newly consolidated subsidiary ADVICS Manufacturing Ohio, Inc.; sales of body related products rose 11.2% to ¥286,230 million (US$2,708 million) owing to increased sales of power sliding door systems, power back door systems and occupant weight sensors; and sales of information related and other automotive related products edged up 3.6% to ¥75,901 million (US$718 million) through expanded sales of car navigation systems and increased sales of such new products as IPA. Sales in the life related products segment of the Life Related and Other Business increased 5.8% to ¥48,339 million (US$457 million) following expanded sales of GHPs, while sales of products in the other products segment, which includes civil engineering and petroleum sales, climbed 11.4% to ¥24,279 million (US$230 million) on account of efforts to increase orders. AISIN Establishes New Company in China to Produce Auto Body Components (Dec. 17, 2004) Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd., (Mr. Kanshiro Toyoda, president; headquarters in Kariya-city, Aichi, Japan) established a new joint company to produce auto body components with Elite Sewing Machine Mfg., Ltd., and Hsin Chong Machinery Works Co., Ltd., in Foshan City, Guangdong, China. The new company, Aisin Seiki Fushan Body Parts Co., Ltd., will start production in April 2006. The new company will integrate production from plastic molding to the assembly stage of auto body components, including electric sliding sunroofs and the motor housing for power seats. The new company is the third production base to follow Aisin Seiki Fushan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd., which produces engine parts, and Fengai (Guangzhou) Automotive Seat Parts Co., Ltd., which is a joint with Toyota Boshoku Corporation to produce car sheet components. We are now coming up to the final stage of creating a comprehensive delivery system in China, with 12 production bases (six in the northern part, three in the central part, and three in the southern part). AISIN Develops the World's First 6-Speed Automatic Transmission for Light Duty Trucks (August 2, 2004) Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kariya-city, Aichi, Japan; President: Kanshiro Toyoda) has developed the world's first 6-speed automatic transmission for light duty (2-4 t) trucks. This transmission has adapted new developed lock up torque converter to enable to improve fuel efficiency as well as acceleration and driving power. In order to support the vehicle on a downward slope where drivers use foot brake often, the automatic transmission allows for the transmission to deliver optimum braking force according to driving speed, road inclination, and vehicle weight. This transmission is now installed in "DYNA" and "TOYOACE" (TOYOTA cars released in this April), "HINO DUTRO"(Hino Motors), "FE 120, 145, 180"(Mitsubishi Fuso for North America). Ltd.(President: Kanshiro Toyoda; Headquarters: Kariya, Japan) has established a new manufacturing company, which produces the automotive body-related products such as door frames and door latches in Tuzla, Turkish Republic. The new company was named as "AISIN OTOMOTIV PARCALARI SANAYI VE TICARET A.S. , and will start the production in April, 2005. AISIN has ever been manufacturing the body-related products at Aisin Europe Manufacturing (UK) Ltd.(President: Shunzo Hattori; Headquarters: Birmingham,U.K.) , and supplied those products to car manufacturers in Europe.
