Auburn Hills, Mich. - The "too cool to
categorize" 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser took highest honors as Most
Wired Product Design at WIRED Magazine's Readers Raves 2000 awards gala
in San Francisco last night, adding acclaim to the vehicle's
groundbreaking exterior and interior design.

"The Chrysler PT Cruiser
has changed the landscape of the automotive market with a distinctive
design unmatched by any vehicle on the road today," said Trevor
Creed, Senior Vice President, Design, DaimlerChrysler Corporation.
"This award is a credit to members of our design team, who
constantly strive to create innovative vehicles that appeal to both the
rational and emotional needs of consumers."
Choosing among five nominees in
17 categories, thousands of WIRED readers selected the people, products
and web sites that reflect the most competitive and innovative growth in
technology during the past year, drawing on elements of innovation,
design, functionality, cultural impact, commercial viability and
all-around "wiredness."
The Chrysler PT Cruiser and
topped its category's competitive list of dynamically designed consumer
products, including the Nike Air Presto running shoe, the Sony VAIO
Music Clip, Apple's Cinema Display and Think Outside's Stowaway Portable
Keyboard.

The all-new 2001 Chrysler PT
Cruiser went on sale in April and has received unprecedented attention
and demand for its "segment-busting" design and functionality.

figures, find independent reviews and locate dealers. There is even a
