This is a lead that Audi wishes not only to maintain, but
also to extend further. Audi's development engineers have fundamentally redesigned key
areas of the A3, smoothly combining its still captivating concept with new elements.
The trendsetter is
now forging ahead again, raising the standard in its class once more. The Audi A3's new
lead is based on three pillars: modern technology, top quality and forward-looking design.
- An exemplary range of engines with two new
high-tech versions: a high-torque TDI with pump-injector injection technology and 96 kW
(130 bhp), and a particularly economical and low-emission 1.6 litre petrol engine with
low-friction valve control by roller cam followers. Power output: 75 kW (102 bhp).
- Optimised material quality with maximum
durability in all areas: materials conveying a feeling of luxury in the restyled interior;
many details with improved functionality; redesigned controls and new steering wheels;
navigation system Plus with colour monitor in the centre console (option); new tailgate
with Soft Touch opening.
- The advanced look of exterior and interior
brings the A3 into line with modern Audi design philosophy: modified front-end design with
a new radiator grille and spoiler; one-piece ellipsoidal-principle headlights with clear
glass; xenon headlights (option); tail lights with new internal geometry; new range of
wheels.
The exemplary
safety package offered in A3 models will continue to set the class standard in future. The
Electronic Stability Program ESP is part of the standard specification of all versions
available on the German market. The side head airbag system SIDEGUARD, which protects the
head and neck areas of all outboard passengers in a side impact, is also available for all
A3 models. And every A3 will also have a fully galvanised body in future, the corrosion
resistance of which Audi guarantees with its 12-year rust penetration warranty.
