With
its 92 kW (125 bhp) four-cylinder engine, the Lupo GTI is setting the
standards in the small-vehicle class. The 1.6-ltr four-valve engine,
which fulfils exhaust emission norm Euro 4, can power the most sporty
Lupo up to speeds of 205 km/h. This powerful small vehicle demonstrates
its sprinter qualities with a top value of 8.3 seconds for 0 to 100
km/h. The Lupo GTI shows itself to be a real sportsman with a consistent
lightweight construction approach: the bonnet, doors and the flared
wheel arches are made of lightweight aluminium, which means that the
Lupo GTI weighs in at just 978 kilos.
The
very special class of the Lupo GTI can be seen at first glance. The
stocky appearance of the front end with the individual spoiler bumper
with integrated air inlets, the flared wheel arches and the striking
sill are similar to the sports cars familiar from the successful VW Lupo
Cup. At the rear end, the spoiler and the mid-placed double exhaust pipe
emphasise the unmistakable finish of the strongest Lupo in the current
Volkswagen programme.
Although
the weight of the Lupo GTI has been reduced as far as possible, there is
still room for all the equipment relevant for safety. ABS and ESP are
fitted as standard, all four wheels have disc brakes. The brakes are
ventilated at the front. A sporty flair also defines the interior
equipment of the Lupo GTI. Leather steering wheel, sports seats and red
safety belts with black pattern are the suitable attire for this top
performance automobile.
The
new Lupo GTI can be ordered as of September at the Volkswagen
dealerships. The price for this small sporty vehicle is DM 33.640,25 DM
(17.200 Euro).
