GM Brings The GM Experience Live to the Web from North America's largest Auto Show
DETROIT, MI - Dec. 30, 1999 - General Motors today announced it will use the Web to bring the "GM Experience" at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2000, live to consumers around the globe. Visitors to www.gm.com will feel the excitement of North America's largest auto show first hand, as well as see what the automotive future holds, through "The GM Experience Live," a virtual tour of the giant two-story, 164,456 square foot exhibit space. For the first time ever, all GM brands will be featured in one physical location known as the "GM Experience." An 800-seat theatre with a stage has been built to highlight GM's current and future vehicles from around the world, including concept cars. In addition to this impressive physical display, visitors to www.gm.com will have access to "The GM Experience Live," which includes virtual entrée to press conferences, special celebrity segments, charity auctions on eBay® at www.ebay.com, features on the environment and safety, live web cam shots, GM news shows and more. "This virtual drive-through of GM's largest combined auto show exhibit is just one example of GM's commitment to enhancing and adapting the customer experience through the Web," said Mark Hogan, president of e-GM, GM's e-business division. "The GM Experience Live will serve as an industry template and springboard for the use of the Internet at future events." "The GM Experience Live" has been created and produced by e-GM specifically for enthusiasts who cannot attend the show in Detroit and those attendees who wish to further extend their show experience. This initiative is intended to provide a broader audience with virtual access to the show in an entertaining and interactive manner.
