. Eberspächer: Compact Auxiliary Heater Prevents A Frosty Start To Your Journey
Photo: Eberspächer Esslingen - Instead of have to scrape ice off, get into a warm car, with clear windows, which will not steam up again, and listen to the pre-heated engine spring into life - an auxiliary heater is a great help for winter motoring. Hydronic is the name of the improved version from specialist Eberspächer, which has undergone a facelift, and is now even easier to fit in practically any car, as well as being quieter and more effective in operation. Better vehicle equipment to improve safety and comfort is part of a trend: immediate, lasting good visibility, stable support in the seat belt without winter clothes, and cosy warmth. The fuel supply comes from the vehicle tank (diesel or petrol), and the most compact fuel-fired auxiliary heater warms the engine coolant, and distributes the heat through the ventilator, e.g. directly onto the windows, or into the car. Depending on the size of car, there is a Hydronic with a maximum output of 4.3 kW or 5 kW. For all year round use, the auxiliary ventilation function provides a cool breeze in the summer. For the price of a good in-car audio system, Eberspächer can offer the complete set at competitive prices via 2700 trained specialist workshops in Europe, thanks to increasing numbers of units supplied to the car industry; the cost of installation, which takes five to seven hours, is extra. A thirty-minute pre-heating operation only uses about one-eighth of a litre of fuel, but the pre-heated engine consumes less fuel and emits fewer harmful pollutants. All the heaters can be switched on with timers and the new remote controls. For example, the new Calltronic module enables its owner to switch on the heater by phone from any distance away. It gives feedback about operation. This does with the new TP5 mini remote control, whose display shows the current vehicle temperature - thus indicating the heating requirement. (December 1, 2002)
