. Valeo expands global manufacturing network with new factory in Romania
Paris, France - Valeo announced that it has started operating its first facility in Romania. The 4,000 square-meter facility, which will produce the full wiring systems for Dacia models, is located in Mioveni in the newly constructed integrated supplier park. With a significant investment in new equipment, the plant will initially employ around 300 people to serve Dacia's existing and future programs. Valeo is the first supplier to be nominated to supply wiring systems to Dacia, superceding in-house wiring manufacture by the Romanian vehicle manufacturer that was acquired by Renault in 1999. "This manufacturing facility is an important expansion of Valeo's presence in the growing East European market. It is our aim to support our customers in their globalization strategy and we are pleased to contribute to the Renault-Dacia expansion," said Thierry Morin, Chairman of Valeo's Management Board. "We are pleased to welcome Valeo to our integrated supplier park. We expect Dacia cars to benefit from Valeo's extensive expertise in electrical distribution systems," said Christian Estève, General Manager, Dacia. (November 28, 2002)
