Design prizes for Porsche Selection products:

Awards for design, quality and safety

Stuttgart - Products from the Porsche Selection range have won well-known prizes in two international design competitions.

The International Forum Design in Hanover has awarded Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, the "IF Silver Award" for the Porsche Bike R, a 6.8-kg high - performance bicycle made of lightweight carbon. The Porsche Slalom Carver, a strongly shaped carving ski which provides extremely agile and safe curve behaviour, was awarded the "IF design award 2002" for excellent design.

This was the first time that Porsche Selection took part in the competition, for which 1,000 participants from 35 different countries submitted 1,900 products. A jury of internationally renowned design experts judged according to various criteria, including the design and production quality, the functionality, the degree of innovation and the level of safety of the applicants. 17 products were awarded the "IF Silver Award", while 357 products were awarded the "IF design award".

27 experts entrusted with the task of awarding the "red dot 2002" for the North Rhine - Westphalia Design Centre also honoured three products from the Porsche Selection. A Porsche cross - country bicycle, the Bike FS, managed to win a prize. The aluminium sledge, a lightweight, foldable construction, and the Porsche golf bag set also both convinced the jury in terms of their degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics and their long service life. 1,479 participants applied for the "red dot"; only 334 products were awarded prizes.

Porsche markets the Selection range exclusively through the Porsche centres worldwide. The Porsche Slalom Carver is available at selected sports dealers.
