TROY, MICH.– Saturn Corporation will offer a limited-edition, factory-built specialty vehicle – a yellow SC2 coupe – on eBay as part of an auction to raiseproceeds for the American Red Cross.

The specialty coupe, based on the redesigned 2001 Saturn three-door coupe, will be limited to 99 numbered units in honor of the Group of 99, the General Motors and United Auto Workers (UAW) leaders who created Saturn. Saturn will use this coupe to help determine customer interest in future factory-built specialty vehicles. The remaining 98 specialty coupes in the series will be available at Saturn retail facilities in the Houston and San Francisco areas.

The online auction, beginning June 21, gives eBay community members seven days to bid on two exciting packages offered by Saturn. The first package consists of the special version of the Saturn SC2 coupe and a trip for two to see the U.S. Olympic team compete in Sydney, Australia. The second auction package highlights the Saturn Cycling Team and will appeal to any cycling enthusiast.

"The American Red Cross plays a critical role helping communities," said Jill Lajdziak, Saturn vice-president of sales, service and marketing. "Saturn is pleased to help raise funds for the American Red Cross as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to our communities."

The benefit auction also builds on the recently announced relationship that Saturn and Saturn retailers have formed with eBay, to give used vehicle buyers and sellers greater trust in the on-line trading process through retailer-based automotive inspections. "The auction is another part of our effort to begin building relationships with eBay’s online community," Lajdziak said.

The Saturn coupe offered in the auction is a unique version of the world’s only three-door coupe. It is one of only 99 cars built that feature a yellow exterior with a black roof, a unique black-and-yellow leather interior and other interior accents, 15-inch chrome finish alloy wheels and a certificate of authenticity.

The coupe is loaded with popular options such as cruise control, power windows and mirrors, security system, air conditioning, automatic transmission, AM - FM stereo with CD and cassette player and a sunroof. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (M.S.R.P) for the auction vehicle is $ 19,955 and includes a $440 transportation charge.

The trip for two to the Olympics in Sydney includes: luxury accommodations on board the Norwegian Star for seven days and six nights, two Olympic event tickets per day, access to "The Millennium Marquee" tent within the Sydney Olympic Park and access to events and parties with Olympians and sports and entertainment celebrities.

The second package that will be auctioned consists of a custom-fit LeMond  Road-Racing Bike, bicycling care kit, heart rate monitor and cycling computer. In addition, the winning bidder can cycle in style wearing an official racing uniform of the Saturn Cycling Team, including an autographed cycling team jersey and Oakley glasses. Saturn is a sponsor to both the Saturn Cycling Team and the U.S. Olympic Team for Cycling.
