Gaydon Development Center

The all new Design and Engineering Centre in Gaydon, UK

Gaydon, in Warwickshire, England, was the home to Rover Group's Design and Engineering facilities, and was sold to Ford together with the Land Rover plant in Solihull.

With an investment of Ł 29.3 million, the Design and Engineering Centre is a focal point for all concept, design and engineering work.

The 900 acre site house has a showroom, design area, colour and trim studio, a street (to view cars in their natural environment), a model development centre, paint and fibreglass department, plus various centres of engineering excellence and testing facilities.

The Gaydon project took 2 years to complete with 42,700 man-hours spent on design and 820,000 man-hours on construction. With a total glazed area of 3,900 sq. metres, everyone is near a window - vital in the creative and design process. So much technology is housed within GDEC that there's enough cable to complete 30 laps of Brands Hatch race track.
