DaimlerChrysler: The Chrysler Crossfire 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Range Broadens Appeal Now with Six Available Models
The new variants ensure that Chrysler’s distinctive two-seater is available to a wider audience of drivers wanting to own and enjoy this expressive, fun-to-drive vehicle. To differentiate the line-up, the highly specified Crossfire models will now be known as Coupe Limited and Roadster Limited. Bringing the stunning Chrysler Crossfire Coupe and Roadster to an expanded potential customer base, the new entry-level models come with keenly revised specifications. The 3.2-litre V-6 engine, standard six-speed manual transmission, chassis and running gear are all similar to the Limited models, so the exhilaration of owning this front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car is still guaranteed. Tested on the autobahn, on high-speed ovals, race tracks and the world’s finest and most demanding roads, the Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 provides what performance enthusiasts demand, thanks in large part to its unique ride and handling characteristics. To delight enthusiasts and deliver ultimate Chrysler performance, the vehicle delivers a stiffer, sportier performance ride with reduced understeer. As for braking power, internally ventilated disc brakes at all four corners with dual-piston callipers front and rear take the Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 from 100 km/h (62 mph) to a full stop in less than 38 metres. The Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 features a fixed rear spoiler that immediately suggests “speed” and “power,” and results in reduced lift and enhanced aerodynamic balance at high speeds. An elegantly integrated front fascia “chin” spoiler also reduces lift and enhances vehicle balance, while providing greater cooling air flow. Unique, lighter 15-spoke performance-themed SRT aluminium alloy wheels (18-in. front and 19-in. rear) add to Crossfire SRT6’s exterior performance characteristics. Exclusive premium performance-themed appointments are found throughout the interior of the Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 as well, including a 320 km/h (200-mph) instrument cluster and race-inspired seats. Crossfire Coupe and Roadster Limited The previous familiar models in the Chrysler Crossfire range will now be known as the Crossfire Coupe Limited and Crossfire Roadster Limited. While the appearance of the Chrysler Crossfire Coupe and Roadster has attracted the attention of sports car fans world-wide, both models have proven to be genuine driver’s cars, containing the true expression of the Chrysler brand essence and a genuine reflection of the brand’s core values: expressive, confident, smart and refined. For open-air motoring in the Roadster model, an automatic powered roof neatly folds the fabric top beneath the hard tonneau cover. Satin silver painted sport bars are revealed just behind the driver and passenger seats, and two race-inspired fairings integrated into the top of the tonneau cover complete the creation of the hungry, poised-to-pounce stance of this eye-catching car. The standard transmission for Chrysler Crossfire Limited models is a six-speed manual gearbox with top gear (6th) and overdrive ratio for quiet, relaxed, fuel-efficient high-speed cruising. Customers can also choose the optional five-speed automatic transmission, which features a driver-adaptive shift logic, full automatic or AutoStick manual gear selection, a lock-up torque converter and selectable summer and winter modes. As appropriate for a car with Chrysler Crossfire’s level of performance, accident avoidance technology fitted as standard to Crossfire includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), Brake Assist, all-speed Traction Control System (TCS) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). Chrysler Crossfire Coupe and Roadster Limited now offer a navigation radio available as a factory-installed option. This RB3 navigation radio system for European customers contains a navigation computer with 12.4 cm (4.9-in.) diagonal display, tuner and CD player all in one unit. Features include turn-by-turn route guidance navigation with voice instruction, seven different user languages, automatic re-route calculation and memory to store 50 custom user destinations.
