Ingolstadt - Starting from
18 September the new V6 engine with a displacement of
3.6 litres can be ordered for the Audi Q7. Its torque is
available across a wide range, with 360 Nm on tap
between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. With an output of 206 kW
(280 bhp) at 6,200 rpm, the V6 represents an impressive
power pack for the performance SUV.
With an included angle
between cylinder banks of 10.6 degrees, the V6 is
unusually compact.
Its
engine block is fashioned from grey cast iron; the valves are
actuated by low-friction roller cam followers with hydraulic
clearance adjustment. Intake and exhaust camshafts, which are
chain-driven, are continuously adjustable to reduce emissions
and further improve fuel economy. The V6 uses FSI, the direct
injection technology developed by Audi, which enhances
performance and efficiency.
The
performance figures are correspondingly impressive: the Audi Q7 3.6 FSI
accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds; its top speed is 225
km/h. Versions with adaptive air suspension, by virtue of the lowered
body and less aerodynamic drag, can achieve even 230 km/h.
The
new Audi Q7 represents a superlative in the SUV segment. It produces the
performance of a sports car on the road, while redefining the boundaries
of a vehicle in this category off-road. The Audi Q7 is the new
performance SUV from the creator of quattro. In the first eight months
of this year, a total of 26,100 Audi Q7 were sold worldwide.
Sales
of the Audi Q7 3.6 FSI quattro will begin in early 2007. The basic price
in Germany will be 49,100 euros.
