Buick Slam? Tiger Woods Aims To Win Third Of Three Buick Golf Titles In
New York
|
Detroit - Tiger Woods has
already held all four of golf's major titles at the same time. Now, with a
win at the 2003 Buick Classic at Westchester Country Club in Harrison, NY,
Tiger can become the first to hold all three of the Buick golf titles at
the same time.
Tiger's run began in August
2002 with a win at the Buick Open in Grand Blanc, MI. He followed that
with a February 2003 win at the Buick Invitational in Torrey Pines, CA.
The week of June 16, 2003, he'll tee it up at the Buick Classic with a
chance for the first-ever Buick Slam.
"It's a personal goal of
mine to win all three of the Buick golf titles," said Woods.
"Westchester is a challenging course that I'm looking forward to. And
it's always great to play in New York."

"We're thrilled that
Tiger is planning to return to the Buick Classic this year," said
Larry Peck, Buick golf marketing manager. "Adding the possibility of
a Buick Slam enhances what's sure to be a great week of golf."
2003 marks Tiger's fourth
appearance in the Buick Classic. Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani
will serve as the tournament's Honorary Chairman.
Now in its fifth decade of
PGA Tour sponsorship, Buick is the Tour's largest and longest-standing
partner. In 2003, Buick complemented that relationship by entering an
agreement with NBC Sports to become the exclusive automotive advertiser of
another three-peat event: thoroughbred racing's premier series, the Visa
Triple Crown.
