SENAI, the French Education Ministry and PSA Peugeot Citroën Inaugurate a Franco-Brazilian Automotive Training Center in São Paulo Paris-Sao Paulo - Senior executives of Brazil's National Education System for Industry (SENAI), France's Education Ministry and PSA Peugeot Citroën inaugurated an automotive after-sales training facility in São Paulo. Operation of the new Peugeot Citroën-SENAI Franco-Brazilian Automotive Training Center is covered by a partnership agreement signed by Jean-Luc Melenchon, French Minister of State for Professional Education, Ruy Berger, Brazilian Secretary for Intermediate and Technological Education, Jean-Martin Folz, Chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroën, and Manuel de Aguiar Martins, Managing Director of SENAI. The partners are committed to training staff of Peugeot and Citroën's Brazilian after-sales networks in customer service, maintenance, vehicle repairs and new automotive technologies, at a rate of 1,200 trainees a year. As part of the partnership, SENAI is providing trainees with facilities covering 800 square meters, mobile units to decentralize training to other States, and equipment and software for distance learning. The French Education Ministry is assigning two specialist automotive maintenance instructors on a long-term basis to SENAI in São Paulo to train workshop managers, receiving clerks, supervisors, technicians and journeymen employed by the Peugeot and Citroën dealers. PSA Peugeot Citroën is committed to training the instructors in the specific features and technical developments of Peugeot and Citroën automotive products, as well as in customer service methodologies. The two marques will also provide training equipment, including vehicles or parts of vehicles, and agree to replace them as their models and technologies evolve. The partnership allows SENAI to equip the São Paulo center with new automotive technology training facilities and to support the continuing education of its instructors, thus driving the transfer of new knowledge and teaching methods to the Brazilian technical education system. By helping to develop professional training in Brazil, the French Education Ministry is confirming its global vision, outreach and teaching expertise. With its manufacturing plant in Porto Real and current 2.7% share of the Brazilian market, PSA Peugeot Citroën is leveraging the partnership to affirm its local presence by working with SENAI and the French and Brazilian education ministries to improve the present training system of the Peugeot and Citroën marques. The partnership reflects the commitment of French and Brazilian government authorities to aligning their educational systems. This is also the goal of a cooperation agreement signed today by both countries. (October 11, 2001) [Homepage] [
