The facility, which is scheduled for completion by March 2002, will supply structural components to the General Motors Assembly Plant in nearby Shreveport, La. "This state-of-the-art facility will feature technologies and processes designed to deliver top-quality structural systems, advanced connectivity, and enhanced quality and value to our customer," said Bill Carroll, president of Dana's Automotive Systems Group. "We are tremendously excited about becoming a part of the Longview community," he added, "and we are proud to serve as a tangible example of the economic development success taking place in Northeast Texas." The facility is expected to employ 450 people. It will be located on a 69-acre site in the Longview Business Park, which was developed by the Longview Economic Development Corporation. The location of the plant is in close proximity to several accredited technical training facilities, which will provide Dana with solid training resources and the opportunity to attract highly skilled employees.
