Buick Donates Tiger's Masters Regal To Charity Tiger Woods Foundation Planning To Offer Regal On EBay Motors
Buick Regal 2001 Photo: GM DETROIT - As the longest standing corporate partner of the PGA TOUR and as part of its ongoing support of the Tiger Woods Foundation (TWF), Buick has donated the Regal driven by Tiger Woods during the week of his historic win at the 2001 Masters to the Foundation that bears his name, it was announced by Buick. According to Joseph S. Grant, Jr., executive director of the Tiger Woods Foundation, the Regal will be offered for sale on eBay Motors (www.ebaymotors.com) with all proceeds going to charities and programs supported by the Tiger Woods Foundation through its benevolent grants. Woods, whose vehicle of choice since his relationship with Buick began in December 1999 has been a black Buick Regal, signed a commemorative plate that is affixed to the car's dashboard and is visible from the inside only. "We think offering the actual Regal Tiger drove in Augusta as he won his fourth consecutive Major tournament is the ultimate in memorabilia," said Roger W. Adams, Buick general manager. "The Buick Regal, with its quick, responsive performance and relaxed luxurious interior is the perfect environment to help someone mentally prepare for an important event. As Official Car of the PGA TOUR, Buick provides courtesy cars for all PGA TOUR tournaments. Usually, after a tournament, local Buick dealers hold a sales event focused on the courtesy fleet. This year, following the Masters - which Woods won for the second time by two shots - Buick secured Woods' Regal with plans to donate it to charity. Since 1984, Buick has donated nearly $20 million to local charities through its sponsorship of four PGA TOUR tournaments. Buick is also an associate sponsor of the Tiger Woods Foundation's PGA TOUR co-sponsored event, the Williams World Challenge presented by Target. The Buick Regal is powered by a 3.8 liter V-6 engine. Other features include 16-inch cast aluminum wheels, standard body-colored grille and Gran Touring suspension. More information is available at www.buick.com. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail price (MSRP) for the 2001 Buick Regal is $23,575. (June 7, 2001) [Homepage] [
