BMW 3 Series is
America's Best Loved Car
BMW 3 series convertible Photo: BMW Woodcliff Lake, NJ - BMW has captured eight titles in all three eligible categories in AutoWeek's America's Best Awards for 2001. In its annual poll, readers gave the BMW 3 Series the most prized award, America's Best Loved Car, with the BMW 5 Series placing third in the same category. BMW also collected 3 Best in Class awards, with the M3 winning Best Sports Coupe, the M5 collecting Best Sports Sedan and the X5 as Best Sport Utility Vehicle. Additionally, in the European Car Class, BMW finished first, second and ninth with the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series respectively. BMW (US) Holding Company CEO Tom Purves said "I am delighted that Autoweek's readers have shown their appreciation of our products in this year's poll. I am especially pleased that the BMW 3 Series has been awarded America's Best Loved Car. These prestigious honors, from a notable magazine once more demonstrate the regard in which our cars are held." Autoweek's readers were asked to vote in 5 categories, Best American Car, Best European Car, Best Asian Car, Best Loved Car and Best in Class. 3400 readers were polled be the magazine that features its awards in its July 2 issue.
