| "Determining which vehicles deserve the AAA Top Car Award
is just as difficult as the decisions consumers have to make when shopping for a new
car," said David Van Sickle, AAA Director of Automotive and Consumer Information and
Editor of AAA's 2000 New Car & Truck Buying Guide. "In the end, our selections
hinge on which vehicles offer the best combination of performance, design, quality and
value. For the minivan category, the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan finished first in its
class." To evaluate vehicles for AAA's New Car & Truck Buying Guide, AAA
experts test vehicles under everyday driving conditions. For each review, each vehicle is
evaluated in 20 different categories which include safety, comfort and convenience,
acceleration and braking, and ride and handling.
"We are extremely honored that AAA, one of this country's most trusted,
prestigious motorist organizations, has recognized our 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan as a Top
Car," said Jim Julow, Vice President of Dodge. "In addition to the experts at
AAA, consumers continue to vote for Dodge Caravan in the market place every single day.
Dodge Caravan is the world's best-selling minivan and has been since we introduced the
minivan 16 years ago."
Dodge sells nearly 300,000 Caravans a year and commands nearly 25 percent of the
minivan segment -- the highest of any nameplate. Dodge Caravan and Dodge Grand Caravan are
manufactured in St. Louis, Missouri and Windsor, Ontario.
AAA is a non-profit federation of 89 clubs with 1,100 offices located throughout North
America that provide travel, insurance, financial and automotive services to 42 million
