Appoints European Diversity Director |

COLOGNE
- Surinder Sharma has been appointed to the position of Diversity
Director, Ford of Europe. He took up the appointment on 1 September.
He
joins Ford from Littlewoods, the UK retailing and leisure business,
where he has been Head of Equality and Diversity for the past five
years. Prior to that he was Head of Equal Opportunities at BBC
Television from 1990 to 1995 and also spent 12 years with the
Commission for Racial Equality, the UK race relations agency.

Surinder Sharma is a Commissioner for the Equal Opportunities Commission
in the UK and is an adviser to the Ministerial Advisory Committee on
Work/Life Balance at the UK Department for Education and Employment. He
is 47 years old, married with two children and holds a BA in Law from
the University of Kent. (September 4, 2000)

Appoints New National Diversity Manager In Britain

BRENTWOOD
- Kamaljeet Jandu has been appointed to the position of National Manager
for Diversity, Ford of Britain.
Kamaljeet
Jandu joins Ford from the Trades Union Congress, where he has been
Policy Officer in the Equal Rights Department for the past five years.
In this role, Mr. Jandu was responsible for developing the TUC's policy
on race and employment. Previously he was an Economic Development
Officer at the London Borough of Ealing and a researcher.

Mr.
Jandu, an Economist by training, has numerous publications on diversity
and race relations issues to his credit. He is also a Commissioner for
the Commission for Racial Equality. He lives in Southall, West London,
where he is on the management committee of the Southall Rights Legal
Advice Centre.
In
addition to Kamaljeet Jandu's appointment, a new Diversity Manager for
the Dagenham Estate was appointed in mid-May. Satya Kartara, joined Ford
from Oxford City Council where she was employed as the Diversity Manager
developing policies and strategies on employment and service delivery.
Satya has extensive experience in the equality and diversity field,
having worked with a wide range of groups and organisations on
education, training and employment issues. As well as her practical
experience she has written on the subject of diversity and has presented
her own community issues programmes on local TV. (September 4, 2000)
