Creditors Begin Discussions With General Motors, Fiat Seoul - Daewoo Motor Co. and its creditors and General Motors Co. and Fiat S.p.A. have reached an agreement to begin discussions regarding the acquisition of passenger vehicle assets and related businesses of Daewoo Motor. GM and Fiat will conduct a preliminary due diligence. This first phase is expected to proceed rapidly and upon further agreement will be followed by formal negotiations. In accordance with the agreement, GM and Fiat will evaluate the assets and businesses that will be included in the new Daewoo Motor Co. In addition, both sides are expected to begin initial discussions surrounding the terms, conditions and forms of transfer. The agreement comes as a result of Daewoo Motor and its creditors’ resolve to resume sale of Daewoo Motor as quickly as possible following Ford’s decision to not pursue Daewoo Motor. Both sides have agreed that all discussions relating to the possible purchase of Daewoo Motor will be kept confidential until a final agreement is signed. (October 8, 2000)
