Anders Svensson traces his professional background to Saab, where he was Purchasing Manager for the Metallic/Powertrain Department. He moved to England in 1996 to take over the position of Quality Manager at the Vauxhall Purchasing Department, and he then held the post of coordinator for quality work at the GM Europe Purchasing Department in the German city of Rüsselsheim, before being appointed Executive Director, Purchasing at the Opel factory in Belgium.

In his new position at Saab, Anders Svensson will be reporting directly to President Peter Augustsson. He will be succeeding Mike Lapinski who, after three years at Saab, is returning to Detroit to take up the post of Executive Director in the GM World Wide Purchasing organization.
