DaimlerChrysler: Showcar Smart Coupe

Micro Compact Car smart GmbH (MCC smart) is presenting the "showcar smart coupé" at the motor show in Paris. The sporty two-seater is based on the roadster, which was presented at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt last year. Whereas the "showcar smart coupé" is still a study, the production of the smart roadster is already definite. The market launch of the roadster is planned for 2003.

 

Sales figures have shown an extremely positive development both in France and in the nine other European markets. In the first eight months of this year 4.650 cars were sold in France and a total of 70.000 were sold in Europe. The largest markets are Germany with 31.430 cars sold, and Italy with 20.270 cars sold. This corresponds to a 67 percent increase in sales Europe-wide compared with the previous year.
