Mercedes-Benz SLK 32 AMG Power roadster: SLK 32 AMG with a 354 hp supercharged V6 engine
The second European premiere on the Mercedes stand at the Geneva Motor Show also comes from Mercedes-AMG: the new SLK 32 AMG. Like the new AMG C-Class models this captivating roadster sets new standards among sports-cars in its class thanks to the effortless power of its 260 kW/354 hp V6-engine: the SLK 32 AMG accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds, and reaches the 200 km/h mark after only 18.4 seconds. With the help of a new helical supercharger which generates a 30 percent higher charge pressure the six-cylinder power plant develops a remarkable torque of 400 Newton metres at the low engine speed of 2300 rpm.
Innovations: new Mercedes-Benz portal and decorative trim of granite as a first In addition to the new models Mercedes-Benz is showcasing an innovative online service in Geneva which will offer drivers in Germany individual services and up-to-date information. The Mercedes-Benz portal can be accessed at any time from any location and using any modern telecommunications equipment -- by telephone, Short Message Service (SMS), an Internet-capable mobile telephone, organizer, PC or car phone. The enhanced control and display system COMAND, which has its premiere in Geneva, establishes the connection between the car and the Mercedes-Benz portal.
The design range of interior appointments by Mercedes-Benz includes yet another exclusive new development: decorative trim of genuine natural stone. On request the top CL-Class Coupés are available with decorative trim for the door panels, centre console, steering wheel rim and gearshift lever made from Norwegian granite containing minerals with a shimmering, bluish tinge. The CL 500 and CL 600 are the first cars in the world to feature such decorative elements, which enhance the interior in a particularly tasteful manner. It took a very involved development process to make the use of this decorative stone trim possible, by enabling very precisely formed stone sections just 0.6 to 0.7 millimetres thick to be produced. Story of Passion: 100 years of technological leadership in automobiles The oldest original Mercedes model still in existence - a Simplex dating from 1902 - is an attraction of a very different kind which can also be admired in Geneva. It is there to mark the 100-year "Story of Passion" for the Mercedes marque, a story which continues to be written today with undiminished élan. pictures: Mercedes |
