Mitsubishi Motors Corporation MMC Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all manufacturing, finance, sales, marketing and research and development operations of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in the United States. Mitsubishi Motors sells coupes, convertibles, sedans, a mid-size pickup truck and sport utility vehicles through a network of approximately 540 dealers. Calendar year 2005 results Global production reached 1,362,673 units, a 3.6 percent reduction compared to 2004. Domestically, 664,900 units were produced in the period, 3.9 percent more than the previous year. Total sales in Japan came to 244,245 units, or a 4.3 percent decrease from the previous period's figure. However, domestic sales have increased year-on-year for eight consecutive months since May 2005. Total sales for passenger cars were 163,351 units, 94.6 percent of last year's volume, while commercial vehicle sales were 80,894 units, or 98 percent year-on-year. Overseas production for the year decreased to 697,773 units, or 90.2 percent of the amount manufactured last year. European production was down 27.1 percent compared to last year's volume, to 69,727 units, mainly due to the ceasing of production of Space Star and Pajero Pinin. Production in Asia was stable at 493,539 units, or 96.1 percent of the amount manufactured in the previous year. Production in North America was down 22.5 percent to 87,810 units. Exports from Japan were stable at 352,547 units, or 97.1 percent of last year's volume. Exports to Europe increased 6.8 percent over the same period last year to 120,753 units. Exports to Asia fell to 35,815 units, or 55.5 percent year-on-year, while exports to North America were stable at 42,963 units, or 97.6 percent compared to the year before. January 2006
