New form of sporty dynamic performance: the BMW 1 Series Coupé The exceptionally successfully BMW 1 Series is being logically extended by the distinctly sporty two-door automobile. The new BMW 1 Series Coupé produced in Leipzig is being presented to the public for the first time at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. It will be at European dealers' showrooms from 24 November 2007. The sales launch in the USA is planned for spring 2008. BMW EfficientDynamics: new diesel engine in the 123d The BMW Group is gradually launching the latest generation of engines with BMW EfficientDynamics in their automobiles. These engines have optimised power and are significantly more fuel efficient. After the BMW 1 Series, EfficientDynamics 2007 will also be available in all vehicles of the BMW 3 Series. A four-cylinder diesel engine packing 204 hp (150 kW) was developed and it is being deployed in the new BMW 123D for the first time (in all versions of the BMW 1 Series). Despite the enormous power, this unit only uses 5.2 litres of diesel per 100 km. CO2 emissions amount to 138 g/km. The 123d also includes measures for optimised energy management such as recycling braking energy and the Auto Start Stop functions. Leipzig plant: more than two years of successful production On 1 March 2005, the BMW plant Leipzig started up volume production of the BMW 3 Series Saloon. On 16 June 2006, the 100,000th vehicle was manufactured. On 5 March 2007, integration of a second model commenced with the launch of volume production for the three-door version of the BMW 1 Series.
