Desert Challenge
Team HUMMER owner and 39-year Baja
1000 veteran, Rod Hall, and his sons Josh and Chad will enter
their stock-class H1 Alpha, H2 and H3 in this year’s race, which
consists of three 136-mile laps in the desert east of Parker. An
additional three miles added to the first and last lap bring the
total race distance to grueling, 414 off-road miles.
“The Parker race is a great event
for both the racers and the fans,” says Rod Hall. “The main pit
area provides thousands of fans a chance to view the race trucks
during each lap of the race, and the various desert terrain
provides a great chance to showcase the stock HUMMERs’
capability.”
H3
The #3111 H3 is piloted by Rod
Hall, 2006 Parker 425 mini-stock class winner and 2006 SCORE
International mini-stock class season champion. Since its
introduction in 2005, Hall has piloted the H3 to eight
mini-stock class wins, including SCORE International’s 2005 Baja
1000 and 2006 Baja 500.
.
H2
The #4111 H2 is piloted by Josh
Hall, who is looking for redemption at this year’s race
following the race-ending transmission failure in the 2006
Parker 425. With decisive class wins at the recent Baja 1000 and
Laughlin Desert Challenge, Hall and the H2 are favorites in the
full-size SUV stock class at this year’s Parker “425”.
H1 Alpha
Team HUMMER’s newest addition, the
#8111 H1 Alpha, is piloted by six-time Baja 1000 winner, Chad
Hall. The H1, introduced at the 2006 Terrible’s Town 250, is
seeking its first class victory and is expected to be a strong
challenger in the race’s full-size truck stock class.
In addition to being the 15 th consecutive
season the Hall family has raced HUMMER products, 2007 also represents a
significant milestone in off-road racing history, as Rod Hall prepares
to compete in the 40 th anniversary of the Baja 1000, November 12-18.
Hall is the only off-road racer to have competed in every Baja 1000 in a
four-wheeled vehicle and with 18 class wins, is the most successful
racer in Baja history. Moreover, the combination of the Hall family’s 26
victories at the 1000 has earned them the title as the most successful
family in Baja 1000 racing history.
