DaimlerChrysler
to produce Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sports Coupé in Juiz de Fora
Stuttgart/Juiz
de Fora - DaimlerChrysler announced today that the Mercedes-Benz
C-Class Sports Coupé will in the future be produced in its
plant of Juiz de Fora, Brazil. Production will begin in
the first quarter of 2007, following the conclusion of the
assembly cycle of the C-Class, which is currently produced
there.
"With this
decision, we are using the existing know-how and the capacity
of the production site in Brazil", says Rainer Schmückle,
Chief Operating Officer of the Mercedes Car Group and responsible
for worldwide production.
The plant in Juiz de Fora
will be the only one to produce the C-Class Sports Coupé, which
will be destined mainly for the European markets. The model is currently
being manufactured at the DaimlerChrysler plant in Sindelfingen,
which in the future will be focusing on the production of sedans
of the new-generation C-Class.
In Juiz de Fora, the
plant will implement the necessary adaptations to its assembly lines
to be able to produce the Sports Coupé.
