BMW Group Design Talk VILLA ERBA 06

Top-class international panel discussion at Lake Como

Munich / Como - "Utopia" will be the key feature of the "BMW Group Design Talk Villa Erba 06" in Cernobbio at Lake Como (Sunday, April 23, starting at 10 a.m.). For the fourth time now the BMW Group is holding this exclusive press event initiated within the framework of the Concorso d'Eleganza at the Villa Antica, to which a number of international journalists and select VIPs have been invited.

The Design Talk event will be hosted by Carl G. Magnusson, Executive Vice President of New York-based Knoll Design of many years' standing. Whilst the 2005 event bearing the title "Design of the 50s" was directed at the past, the 2006 discussion will focus on the future - "Utopia". The discussion will centre on design concepts that reflect not only an epoch-specific image of the future, but also re-define, direct and influence the way the world is viewed.

Like every year, the panel will consist of renowned designers and design experts. This year, the BMW Group has been fortunate enough to acquire the following guests: Cathy Leff, Director of Wolfsonian, Miami; Karen Stein, Editorial Director, Phaidon Press; Dr. Milton Tan, designated Director of Design Singapore Council; Prof. Peter Weibel, Director of the Centre for Communication and Media Technology at Karlsruhe as well as Christopher E. Bangle, Director of BMW Group Design.

For 77 years now the Concorso d'Eleganza at the Villa d'Este has been one of the most exclusive events, bringing together enthusiasts and experts in the field of historical vehicles as well as collectors of automotive items from all four corners of the world in unique surroundings at Lake Como. This year it is being held from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd April.
