All-New 2006 Honda Civic Debuts With New Levels of Performance, Content and Value

TORRANCE, Calif. - The all-new eighth generation 2006 Honda Civic is debuting at dealerships nationwide today with prices starting at $14,360 for the Civic DX Coupe and $14,560 for the Civic DX Sedan, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced.

Across the Civic lineup, prices increase approximately 4 percent on a sales weighted basis, while the sales weighted value of its equipment increases by approximately 12 percent, or $2,000, offering customers more Civic for their money than ever before.

"The all new 2006 model delivers Civic's trademark value and enhances safety, performance and refinement beyond anything we've ever offered in this segment to meet the growing expectations of our customers," said John Mendel, senior vice president, Auto Operations.

Four completely redesigned models include the well-equipped and technologically advanced Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe, an ultra-efficient Civic Hybrid and the high performance Civic Si.

 

New standard features on all models and trim levels include:

  • Side curtain airbags and front side airbags 

  • Advanced Compatibility Engineering(TM) (ACE(TM)) Body Structure 

  • Anti-lock brakes (with 4-channel ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution) 

  • Active front seat head restraints 

  • Horsepower increased by as much as 22 percent (DX, LX models) 

  • Telescoping steering wheel (in addition to tilt) 

  • And much more, plus newly available features that include Honda's Satellite-Linked Navigation System and XM(R) Satellite Radio.

Pricing for the well-equipped Civic LX starts at $16,310 for the coupe and $16,510 for the sedan. The full-featured Civic EX starts at $18,260 for both the coupe and sedan models. Civic Hybrid and Civic Si pricing will be announced closer to each vehicle's on-sale date in October and December, respectively. Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe models offer their most powerful and fuel efficient powertrain to date with a 140 horsepower(i), 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Civics equipped with the available automatic transmission achieve a city/highway EPA rated fuel economy of 30/40 miles per gallon. The 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine meets ULEV-2 emission rating standards.

The Civic Hybrid provides the ultimate in clean and efficient technology with a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine and a new generation of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology that helps the hybrid achieve an estimated city/highway fuel economy of 50/50(ii) miles per gallon and an Advanced-Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) rating.

The Civic Si showcases the high-performance potential of the Civic platform and offers a 197 horsepower(i), DOHC 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine connected to a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited slip differential.
