in May at Mazda Motor Europe

Europe sold over 21,000 vehicles last month during a period that saw the
industry decline by 1.3 percent across Europe. Eleven individual markets
met or exceeded their monthly sales objectives.
Leading the way were four
markets that had record performances. Russia set a new single month record
for volume with sales up 247 percent over last May and a projected market
share of 3.6 percent. In Italy, the Mazda brand had a record May for
market share, at 1 percent for the month, and in Spain sales were up 17
percent compared to last May with a 0.8 percent market share equalling the
record set last May and recording its best May for volume. Greece
increased sales by nearly 10 percent with sales volumes representing the
best May in 13 years.
Other individual markets
achieving excellent results were Denmark, up 76 percent, Norway where
sales were up 25 percent and in Sweden, up 12 percent compared to last
May. These three countries form the Mazda Scandinavia organization, which
increased sales by 41 percent compared to last May. Mazda's market share
in the region is projected to be 2.2 percent, up 0.6 percentage points on
last May. In Ireland, 11 percent more Mazda vehicles were sold this May
compared to last. Also reporting good results were France and the Czech
Republic, each of which increased sales by 2 percent compared to last May.
Mazda3 was Mazda Motor
Europe's best-selling model by volume last month, with nearly 8,000 units
sold, up 42 percent compared to last year with a segment share projected
at almost 3 percent. Mazda6 sales continued to be strong, with volume of
well over 7,000 units for the month and a projected segment share of 4.5
percent. Mazda's adventure vehicles also had outstanding months, with
Mazda Tribute sales up 131 percent and the Mazda B-Series pickup up 35
percent compared to last May. Mazda RX-8 and MX-5 continued the Mazda
brand's prominence in the sports non-premium segment with a combined
segment share predicted to be at almost 19 percent.
