Nissan Announces New Leadership Team

Tokyo, Japan - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced its new leadership team and executive structure, beginning with the start of fiscal year 2005. The new structure includes the position of chief operating officer (COO) as well as changes to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Headed by Nissan President and Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn, the new leadership team will be responsible for the implementation of the NISSAN Value-Up business plan, details of which will be given at the presentation of fiscal year 2004 results in April.

Toshiyuki Shiga is named to the position of COO, reporting to Carlos Ghosn. The COO will support the president and CEO in all areas of the business and will have specific responsibility for Global Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Treasury and Quality.

"Recognizing the broadening of my responsibilities in May, when I will become president and CEO of both Nissan and Renault, I need a leadership team capable of accelerating the performance and delivery of results that has characterized Nissan over the past six years," said Mr. Ghosn. "The new position of COO will be crucial to the success of NISSAN Value-Up, and I have full confidence in Toshiyuki Shiga and the new leadership team to help me implement the next chapter of Nissan's growth."

New Executive Committee and Board of Directors:

Carlos Ghosn, president and chief executive officer, co-chairman of the Board and representative director. Additional direct responsibilities: Chairman, Management Committee, North America; Global Communications and Investor Relations, Global Internal Audit

Toshiyuki Shiga, chief operating officer, representative director and member of the Board. Responsibilities: Chairman, Management Committee, Japan; chairman, Management Committee, General Overseas Markets; Global Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Treasury, Quality. Formerly: Senior vice president, General Overseas Markets

Itaru Koeda, co-chairman of the Board, executive vice president and representative director. Responsibilities: Chairman, Management Committee, Affiliates; External and Government Affairs, Industrial Machinery Division*, Marine Division*

Tadao Takahashi, executive vice president, member of the Board. Responsibilities: Manufacturing, Vehicle and Powertrain Production Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems*

Hiroto Saikawa, executive vice president, member of the Board. Responsibilities: Chairman, Management Committee, Europe*; Purchasing. Formerly: Senior vice president, Purchasing

Mitsuhiko Yamashita, executive vice president, member of the Board. Responsibilities: Research, Technology and Engineering. Formerly: Senior vice president, Environmental and Safety Engineering, Technology Planning and Advanced Vehicle Engineering

Carlos Tavares, executive vice president, member of the Board. Responsibilities: Product Planning and Corporate Strategy, Design, Light Commercial Vehicle Division, program directors. Formerly: Vice president, Product Planning and Strategy

Alain-Pierre Raynaud, senior vice president. Responsibilities: Global controller, Budget and Accounting

* Denotes new responsibility

Other changes:

Nobuo Okubo, currently executive vice president, Research, Technology and Engineering, will retire from his operational responsibilities.

Norio Matsumura, currently executive vice president, Global Sales and Marketing, and chairman of the Management Committees of Japan and Dealers, will retire from his operational responsibilities.

Patrick Pelata, currently executive vice president, Planning and Design, and chairman of the Management Committee of Europe, will leave Nissan for a new position at Renault. Pelata will be proposed as a non-executive director of Nissan.
