BMW Chooses Dana to Supply Drive Units TOLEDO, Ohio - Dana Corporation announced that it has been selected by BMW Group as an intended production supplier of axle components for a future BMW vehicle platform. Dana plans to support BMW with the design and production of front and rear differentials for the program, which will be based in the United States. The selection adds to Dana's increasing business with North American transplant manufacturers. The systems will include a variety of features for high quality, performance, and durability, including low-transmission-error drive gears; luxury-car-type bearing diameters; low-backlash dimensional control; and vehicle-correlated end-of-line noise testing. The drive units will be produced by Dana's Traction Technologies Group, which consists of 25 manufacturing, assembly, and research facilities in 16 countries. The group encompasses a wide variety of traction-oriented solutions -- from individual components to the gearless technologies of tomorrow. Its operations span six continents and are strategically located to efficiently address the evolving demands of light-vehicle OEMs. The Traction Technologies Group is part of Dana's Automotive Systems Group, a leading provider of under-the-vehicle integration technologies for automotive manufacturers worldwide. The group offers advanced driveline design solutions, complete integrated systems engineering, and logistics, drawing upon nearly a century of expertise in the following products: Spicer(R) axles and driveshafts; GETRAG(R) differentials, PTUs, and transaxles; structures and chassis systems; Nakata(R) steering and suspension systems; FTE(R) brake and clutch actuation systems; TTC and Tremec(R) transmissions; and all-wheel driveline systems engineering from Drive-Tek(TM), a Dana/GKN joint venture.
