GM Dealers Power Van Sales To Record Year In 2000 DETROIT - The 2000 calendar year was brimming with sales accomplishments for General Motors full-size vans - the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana. GM was the only manufacturer to see an increase in full-size van market share from 1999 - gaining 2.9 percentage points to 37.7 percent - the highest share since 1991. GM introduces two new van models this year: the upscale Chevrolet Express LT and GMC Savana SLT models, which are due in dealer showrooms in the first quarter 2001. Loaded with comfort amenities, including two video screens, a video game hook-up, VCP and Bose speakers, these spacious, well-appointed vehicles are right for the traveling family. Additional noteworthy numbers for the 2000 calendar year: Combined GM full-size van sales achieved their highest sales volume in 10 years: - 155,623 units sold - an increase of 7.4 percent (10,724 units) from 1999 of which 59,773 units sold to fleet buyers - an increase of 24 percent Chevrolet Express exceeded all Chevrolet full-size van sales since 1989: - 113,232 units sold - an increase of 7 percent from 1999 GMC Savana exceeded all GMC full-size van sales year since 1988: - 42,391 units sold - an increase of 8.5 percent from 1999 Best commercial and fleet sales year ever for Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana. The most recent all-new full-size vans in the market, the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana continue to attract new owners with their unmatched ability to transport people and cargo.
