Jean-Baptiste Duzan has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of the new Renault-Nissan joint global purchasing organization

Paris - Effective April 2, 2001, Jean-Baptiste Duzan has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Renault Nissan Purchasing Organization, a joint venture owned equally by Renault and Nissan.

This first Alliance joint organization will initially handle about 30% of Renault and Nissan's annual global purchasing turnover – equivalent to $14.5 billion – and will cover 17 families of commodities from powertrain components, vehicle parts, raw materials and services. Based on the performance delivered, Renault Nissan Purchasing Organization could handle 70% of all Renault and Nissan purchasing in the future.

Jean-Baptiste Duzan will retain his functions as Senior Vice President, Purchasing and member of the Renault Management Committee.

Jean-Baptiste Duzan was born in 1946. He graduated from the prestigious French engineering school, Ecole Polytechnique, and began his career in 1969 at Citibank. In 1975, he joined the International Bank for Western Africa (BIAO).

He was appointed Director of Financial Services at Renault VI in 1982. In 1984, he became Chief Financial Officer at DIAC, then in 1987, Director of Financial Operations at Renault's Finance and Strategic Planning Department. In 1989, he was Project Director for Safrane. He has been Senior Vice President, Purchasing and a member of the Renault Management Committee since 1994.
