| Munich, Germany, Dec. 15, 1999 - BMW releases the former Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Bernd Pischetsrieder (51), from his contract with BMW as of 1 July 2000. BMW thus complies with a request of Mr. Pischetsrieder, who plans to join the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group on this date. The dissolution of the contract of employment and the change to VW are made in full understanding. |

| . From May 1993 to February 1999, Bernd Pischetsrieder was Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. In compliance with his request, he was relieved of his responsibilities on 5 February 1999, maintaining his contract of employment.
