DEARBORN, Mich., April 6, 1999 – April 17 1999 marks the 35th anniversary of the introduction of the Ford Mustang, and thousands of Mustang enthusiasts will pay homage to the automotive icon at the

Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina April 14-18.

Hosted by the 70,000 member Mustang Club of America, the key day in the event will be April 17 when Ford Division President Jim O'Connor unveils the special 35th edition Mustang and gives the public the first-ever look at the hottest of ponies, the 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R.

A cottage industry has sprung up around the event. Mustang collector cards are trading on the Internet; a special Mustang Edition Monopoly game is for sale, and Microsoft has developed an interactive CD-ROM racing game featuring Mustang.

Hundreds of vintage Mustangs, lovingly restored by hand, will be on exhibit at the Raceway. Special displays will highlight Ford racing and technology, and all sorts of Mustang memorabilia will be for sale.
